Parker's first foods

At Parker's 4 month checkup (almost a month ago, where does time go?!?!), the pediatrician gave us the go-ahead to start solid foods. Some say wait until 6 months, but because Parker already has such good head and neck control, our doc said it was ok to start. He said just to have fun with it, start slow, and just let P start to learn how to eat. It's taken a few weeks, but now he gets the hang of it and is eating like a pro! Such a cute little baby bird.

Oatmeal:

Corn:

Peas:

I've just taken blanched vegetables and put them in the food processor until smooth. Then I freeze them in ice-cube trays and store in the freezer. I did the same thing with some oatmeal- put dry oatmeal in the food processor and just store it in a dry container. When I make him some in the morning, I just mix with a little formula and microwave for 20-30 seconds. It's been so easy!

So far he's eaten: carrots, oatmeal, corn, peas, broccoli and sweet potato. The sweet potato and corn are his favorites! He's also eaten a few bites of mashed potato when we ate at Cracker Barrel a last week.

It's so fun to watch him eat and try new foods. And I love making his foods and feeding him! Often at night, Chris will feed Parker his "dinner" while I make ours. Such sweet family time together. Makes my heart happy.
